New Layout Alert! Work in Progress

I have moved house and as my last post mentions, it is bye bye loft and hello summer house! Loughtbury made the trip but I came to the conclusion that it was time for something new, and a little bit bigger. By removing the old layout from the loft it became clear the baseboards were not in a good shape. What started off as flat and sturdy ended up being warped and bendy.

I now have a large L shape table top baseboard for a new layout and I have been able to save a lot of the old track. I am still playing with the layout idea, but continuing from Loughtbury I wanted to keep a large continuous running loop and plan to incorporate a big curved station, with bigger goods areas than the previous design. The big changes are I am moving to DCC and a slightly different time period. We are headed into the mid 1990’s where you can expect to see the remains of British Rail, Sectorisation and the start of Privatisation. The basic aim is to have somewhere I can run my HST and even the Thameslink, so this means I may add overhead or 3rd rail.

For now I am just playing with ideas and converting a few of the diesels to DCC, which is a tricky job!

Please check back again to see what progress I have made!
