Track Plan

This is a simplified track plan, in reality the track at the bottom curves around the carriage sidings slightly.
The layout is based on a twin loop which allows for continuous running so I can watch the trains go by. However I have tried to make sure that the trains have somewhere to aim for.
There are two stations, a small local station for the small town of “Rafferton” that can hold a 4-5 coach train, and Loughtbury which has 4 platforms (one terminus). The 3 other platforms are partially hidden as they go around the corner under the tunnel of Loughtbury high street. This means I can run longer trains that do not actually have to fit in the station.
Also hidden under the high street is access to the fiddle yard where there is a loop holding 7 sidings of various lengths.
Rafferton
A small town in the country with a 3 platform local station. The platforms can accommodate a 4 car DMU or a diesel hauling up to 4 coaches. Longer trains do stop at the station but passengers must alight from the front 4 coaches only.

Loughtbury
The mainline station is on the edge of town. The high street runs above the 4 platforms. Loughtbury is also the home of a Network Rail maintenance depot and fueling point. The station has a terminus platform and an old siding for stabling locos that do not need to visit the depot.
Just outside the station is a carriage sidings that is also the home of the local DMU units. A Class 08 shunter is resident and is used to assist with larger loco hauled passenger trains or specials.
