Loughtbury High Street – Building the main road above the station.

Loughtbury station is half covered by a road bridge that goes above it. This not only hides the length of the platforms but also hides the tight curves, points and access to the fiddle yard.

I have finally got round to adding the road and placing the Metcalfe models to create an actual high street. Lined with pavements and the entrance the the actual station there are shops, cafes and pubs to visit. I also had some N Gauge signage and pedestrian crossing lights which help bring the location to life.

There is space for a few more buildings to keep up the theme, and the road drops down to the Network Rail depot as well as the siding and container yard. I had been putting this off for a long time but it is amazing how just painting the road finishes this part of the model off.

As always there are plenty of small details I can continue to add but for now I really think this looks the part!
